Loch Tay

The stunning banks of Loch Tay are only 90 minutes away by car, and the drive is worth it. This freshwater loch is Scotland’s sixth largest and over 150 metres deep at its lowest point. It’s been a focal point for human gatherings since at least the 7th or 8th century BC and is still today a great place for families to come and enjoy this wonderful area. You can find out more about the people who used to live here in the Scottish Crannog Centre. This is a must-visit for anyone interested in ancient Scottish history and archaeology.

There are also plenty of opportunities around the loch to walk and cycle, or even take a cruise boat onto the water itself. The Loch also holds a nearby secret for comedy film buffs. Nearby Tomnadashan Mine was where the Black Beast of Arrrghhh lives in Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

Silverwood

Half an hour south of Silverwood is Loch Leven. This is yet another terrific loch for couples and families as it has enough along its shores to offer activities for all.
