The oldest sites in Scotland include ancient monuments, carved stones, stone circles, standing stones and burial cairns. Archaeological digs have revealed evidence of human activity in Perthshire dating back to the Stone Age, 9,000 years ago. Nearby, you can visit ancient historical sites such as Orwell Standing Stones, Abernethy Pictish Symbol Stone, Eassie Stone and Croft Moraig Stone Circle. The palace, which dates originally from the 12th century, but rebuilt in the 1800s, is a spectacular stately home with grand architecture, interiors, gardens and ground, open seasonally for tours. Glamis village in Angus is home of Glamis Castle, seat of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne.
