The home of golf

Consistently ranked in the top courses in Scotland and indeed the world, it is a remarkable experience to play St Andrews Old Course. Established in 1552, this is considered the world’s oldest golf course and is known as the “home of golf”. With famous features such as the Swilcan Bridge and Hell Bunker, it has hosted the Open more times than any other venue. The iconic course is open to the public, but is in high demand. So there are a number of ways to reserve a tee time, including entering the Old Course ballot. Plus, there are a further six courses at St Andrews Links, all with their own unique characteristics.

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to world-class courses near our lodge resort. To our west, Gleneagles has three 18-hole championship courses, all of which rank very highly. The King’s Course, designed by renowned architect James Braid. The Queen’s Course, known for its magnificent scenery. Both opened in 1919. And the modern PGA Centenary Course, which dates from 1993. Or to the north, Blairgowrie is also renowned for its high quality championship courses, including the famous Rosemount Course. You can book tee times in advance on both club’s websites, and we would recommend doing so as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
